Our branch was established because of the huge interest in traditional Irish Music in our local area. It is named in honour of the late John Joe O’Loughlin who taught music to all of the founding members of our branch. Since 2004 we have gone from strength to strength trying to meet the demands for lessons in the various instruments. We are a very young, vibrant branch who loves to perform at local events such as the Tinahely Show, GAA events, cultural events organised by the local Variety Group etc. We regularly perform at Rathwood Home and Garden Centre.

We can always be spotted sporting our cool polo shirts and hoodies!! Monthly sessions are held for  anyone wishing to play a few tunes. The venue for these sessions vary from month to month but are usually held in Murphy’s in Tinahely or in the Community Hall. Our last class before Christmas is more of a Christmas party than a music lesson and gets everyone into the Festive Spirit! We host an annual Seisiun Mor around St Patrick’s Day, this is where we display to parents and the local community the fruits of all the hard work throughout the year. We always have a strong entry in the Wicklow Fleadh and 2009 saw County Wicklow hosting the Leinster Fleadh for the very first time so we made sure to have a strong entry in that too!
